Light-Duty Towing
The sign of any good towing company is that they’ll know the kind of towing services you require after asking you a few questions over the phone. They’ll catch onto whether you need light, medium, or heavy-duty towing services. Most people often can’t differentiate between the different types of towing services they require. However, the job assignment can vary significantly depending on the towing you need.
At Liberty Towing, we’re equipped to handle all your towing needs. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve got a small coupe or a motorhome; we’ve got the towing trucks for all scenarios.
Sometimes, people think their heavy-duty pickup truck classifies as heavy-duty towing. However, that’s not the case. Most cars and trucks used for everyday purposes are light-duty vehicles. The differentiating factor between light, medium, and heavy-duty towing is the vehicle in question’s size and weight.
Towing vehicles can be a delicate process. It requires using the right type of tow truck. Otherwise, you risk damage to your vehicle’s body and transmission.
The GVWR System
At Liberty Towing, we use the GVWR system to determine the type of towing you’ll need. GVWR is an abbreviation for gross vehicle weight rating. Under the GVWR system, we consider a vehicle’s weight and capacity. Using the system, we can determine your vehicle’s maximum operating mass. It’s important to note that the operating mass includes every component of your automobile, including the chassis, engine, fuel, accessories, passengers, and cargo capacity. The GVWR system has three groups with nine classes. These groups are known as light, medium, and heavy duties.
Light-Duty Towing
We reserve our light-duty towing services for vehicles with a GVWR of 14,000 pounds or less. Typically, we consider cars, SUVs, and trucks as light-duty vehicles. Our light-duty towing services include removing abandoned vehicles from parking spaces, recovering vehicles from accidents and crashes, towing cars from private parking zones, etc.
We’ve got two methods for towing light-duty vehicles. Typically, we’ll secure either the front two or back two wheels of your car. The remaining wheels will still be in contact with the road, assisting us with the transportation process.
We’ve also got regular dolly towing trucks in our fleet that are well-suited for light-duty towing. The dolly towing technique entails adding a dolly as an extension to the towing truck. Using this technique, we can lift your vehicle entirely off the road. That means none of your automobile’s wheels will be in contact with the road. The dolly towing technique is suitable for vehicles stuck in gear or heavily damaged. In addition, it’s also an excellent option if you need us to tow your vehicle long distances.
