Heavy-Duty Towing
The sign of any good towing company is that they’ll know the kind of towing services you require after asking you a few questions over the phone. They’ll catch onto whether you need light, medium, or heavy-duty towing services. Most people often can’t differentiate between the different types of towing services they require. However, the job assignment can vary significantly depending on the towing you need.
At Liberty Towing, we’re equipped to handle all your towing needs. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve got a small coupe or a motorhome; we’ve got the towing trucks for all scenarios.
Sometimes, people think their heavy-duty pickup truck classifies as heavy-duty towing. However, that’s not the case. Most cars and trucks used for everyday purposes are light-duty vehicles. The differentiating factor between light, medium, and heavy-duty towing is the vehicle in question’s size and weight.
Towing vehicles can be a delicate process. It requires using the right type of tow truck. Otherwise, you risk damage to your vehicle’s body and transmission.
The GVWR System
At Liberty Towing, we use the GVWR system to determine the type of towing you’ll need. GVWR is an abbreviation for gross vehicle weight rating. Under the GVWR system, we consider a vehicle’s weight and capacity. Using the system, we can determine your vehicle’s maximum operating mass. It’s important to note that the operating mass includes every component of your automobile, including the chassis, engine, fuel, accessories, passengers, and cargo capacity. The GVWR system has three groups with nine classes. These groups are known as light, medium, and heavy duties.
Heavy-Duty Towing
Heavy-duty towing requires experience and precision that not every towing company possesses. At Liberty Towing, we’ve got professional drivers who have received the necessary CTTA training to operate heavy-duty tow trucks.
Typically, we classify automobiles like buses, tractors, trailers, garbage trucks, and more as heavy-duty vehicles. Heavy-duty vehicles can often weigh between 26,000 to 40,000 pounds. Hence, they require special trucks that are equipped to handle such loads.
We’ve got heavy-duty tow trucks that utilize an under-reach and wheel-life technology. Our trucks are capable of handling immense weights without causing any damage to your vehicle.
Generally, we’ll tow the front two wheels of your heavy-duty vehicle and use them to lift it. The rear wheels remain in contact with the ground, facilitating the transportation process.
